"The next generation of girls will grow up safer from violence."
Domestic Abuse and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) refer to patterns of abusive behaviour used to control, harm, or intimidate another person. While VAWG recognises that women and girls are disproportionately affected, abuse can impact individuals of any gender, including men and boys. It is closely linked to inequality and can take many forms, including physical, emotional, psychological, sexual, and financial abuse.
Including rape, sexual assault, and exploitation in all its forms.
Coercive control, physical, emotional, and financial abuse within intimate relationships.
Persistent unwanted contact and behaviour that causes fear and distress.
A harmful practice affecting girls and women, recognised as a serious form of abuse.
Marriage without free and full consent, often involving coercion or deception.
Violence or abuse committed in the name of so-called 'honour', affecting individuals who are perceived to have brought shame on their family.
Actions or behaviors that harm people's physical, emotional, or social well-being. They can limit rights, opportunities, and overall quality of life.
"Domestic Abuse and VAWG has a profound impact on individuals and society, undermining progress toward gender equality. Factors such as race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, religion, sexuality, gender identity, disability, mental health, or age can increase the risk of violence and create additional barriers to accessing justice and support."
We collaborate with a wide range of organisations committed to ending violence against women and girls.
Supporting councils to develop and implement robust Domestic Abuse and VAWG strategies, policies, and commissioning frameworks.
Training and advising police forces, CPS, and courts to improve identification, response, and prosecution of Domestic Abuse and VAWG.
